Jason Stacy is a life long angler who has spent the better part of the last 25 years pursuing his career in fly fishing. He began guiding and teaching fly fishing schools across Alabama and Georgia while attending college. Early in 2006 he and his wife moved to NW Florida where he established a saltwater fly fishing school while managing the opening of Old Florida Outfitters. There he became a founding member of Shallow Water Expeditions guide service. This team of guides works closely together developing fly fishing techniques across the Northern Gulf. Jason is fortunate to spend well over 200 days a year guiding clients from his home waters of Florida’s Emerald Coast across to the Louisiana Delta. Some of his favorite species to target include Tarpon, Redfish and False Albacore.
Don’t let his polite Southern disposition fool you, Captain Stacy is a dedicated fly fishing guide who takes a serious approach to his profession. He strives to educate his clients about conservation with a holistic approach to angling. By gaining a greater appreciation for the saltwater environment and the fish that inhabit it, he helps clients become better, more well rounded anglers.
- Home water? Florida’s Emerald Coast
- Favorite lines; Grand Slam Clear tip (It’s a great casting line for a variety of abilities and and the intermediate tip allows me to fish a suspending fly that gets the grab), Infinity Salt (for technical clear water sight fishing this line excels at accuracy and presentation), and Sonar Saltwater Intermediate (I fish a lot of crystal clear water with spooky fish, this line provides castability, stealth and keeps the fly in their kitchen)
- Where would you most like to fish? The Amazon
- 2 truths and a lie; *Tarpon don’t like it when their “cheeseburgers” attack them. *I played in a Bluegrass group called Uncle John’s Band. * I LOVE Jet-skis.
