Biography:
I grew up in south eastern PA in a fishing family. I was introduced to fishing at a young age and instantly became obsessed! I Started tying flies and fly casting around 6 years old and never turned back. My local fisheries were mostly warm water and smallmouth were plentiful. When I got my drivers license I bought my first car and a canoe and began fishing the Susquehanna and its tributaries in search of larger fish. After years of fishing the Susquehanna and its tribs I realized that this was something that I will forever enjoy and now I am lucky enough to share the same experiences with my clients. Smallmouth bass in shallow water, grassy flats, and ledges sipping bugs, smashing frogs and inhaling streamer patterns is something that every angler needs to experience! I wake up every morning excited for what the river will provide!
Home water:
Schuylkill River
SA lines used most:
SA bass bug – SA bass bug is the perfect line for throwing big air resistant top water flies and larger streamers. It helps myself and my clients punch through the wind and deliver the fly to the target. It mends and loads rods with ease. I love throwing neutrally buoyant streamer patterns on this line when the water is low in the summer time and allows me to pause the fly in the strike zone and play cat and mouse with fish in shallow water.
SA sonar titan mini tip – the short sink section on this line is great for fishing streamer patterns as it allows me to pause my flies in the zone and not get caught on the bottom. My favorite retrieve with this line is an upward jerk strip as it mends the floating portion, keeping my fly line aligned with the rod. The fly is sunken to the correct depth and my self and my clients can easily get a quality hook set using this method. Overall awesome line design for the Susquehanna and similar rivers.
Where would I most like to fish:
This is going to sound insane but it’s hard to get me away from the Susquehanna! The tactics throughout the year change and it keeps everything fresh and fun. Call me boring but I love this place.
Two truths and a Lie:
1.) I’m secretly obsessed with collecting hockey cards and looking for arrowheads
2.) I’d much rather catch trout than smallmouth
3.) guiding has been the most fulfilling career choice and I hope to never stop doing it!
