- Home water? I broke a teaching contract and moved across country for the most magical place that is THE Green River below the Flaming Gorge Dam in Utah. This river has my heart: from the bighorn sheep to wild, angry browns to the ancient, red sandstone that comprises the slot canyon. Nothing really can compare. Yes, there are a few fish along the river, but with the over-abundance of pressure, you better provide a perfect drift. If it were easy, I’d be out of a job.
- What 2-3 lines do you use the most and why? I spend 200 days a year on my home water and I wouldn’t want to be caught without my two favorite lines. On days when fish won’t leave the safety of the river bed, I rely on the Anadro Indicator line. It’s made even the heaviest, longest nymph rigs a breeze to manage. When fish are more cooperative, I find the Amplitude Smooth Infinity gets the job done targeting fish on the surface.
- Where would you most like to fish? If I ignore my home water, then I’d really like to have the opportunity to target taimen. Who wouldn’t want to target the largest trout on this planet?!?! Mongolia anyone… let’s go!!!
- Two Truths and a Lie.
I was born and raised in the Appa-latch-un mountains of the South only to reject mayonnaise my entire life. I decided to take six months and walk from Georgia to Maine with nothing but a backpack. I sold my floor tickets to the opening night of the Eras Tour for $10k per ticket… sorry, Taylor!
