What started with a fly rod strapped to my BMX bike bombing down trails to the river over 40 years ago in Northern California has become a lifelong obsession. Moving east in the late 80’s I discovered the Great Smokey Mountains and the trout that lived there along with the tail waters of the Southeast. Fast forward to today and I am the proud owner of The Fly Box located just minutes from the South Holston River. Owning a fly shop has always been a dream of mine and I am grateful to work alongside my family. The shop incorporates a Deli, Taproom and a full-service shop and outfitter. Fishing technical tail waters are my favorite and the SOHO and Watauga rivers fill that niche for me. My love of fly fishing, especially dry fly fishing is only surpassed by my love of my family and friends. Our goal at The Fly Box is to share that passion and 40 plus years of knowledge on to our customers and clients. The mission statement of our shop is “if it’s on the wall to sell, we fish it”, so SA fly lines, leaders and tippet are a perfect choice for us at the shop. Time on the water is too valuable to be worrying if your fly line is going to perform, SA allows me, my guides, and my customers to concentrate solely on the fish.

1. Home water? The South Holston River in Tennessee, The MO in Montana, but I love any trout water from little mountain streams to large waters.
2. What 2-3 lines do you use the most and why? Amplitude MPX Textured, Infinity textured. Both these lines help me, and my customers deliver flies in any conditions the rivers throw at us any given day.
3. Where would you most like to fish?  I’m a creature of habit so I’ll pick the ones that I love so much, of course the SOHO on a good Sulphur hatch, the MO on a Trico spinner fall and the Rio Maniguales in Chile.
