Captain Scott Null has been fishing the Texas coast for over fifty years, the last 18 as a poling skiff guide specializing in sight casting to redfish. Throughout the summer and fall he’ll be on the beachfront chasing tarpon, bull reds and jacks. Capt. Scott is also a co-host of the popular Bite Me – A Saltwater Fishing Podcast as well as a monthly contributor to Texas Saltwater Fishing Magazine.
- Home water? – The Port O’Connor area.
- What 2-3 lines do you use the most and why? -I use the Amplitude Tarpon in 10 & 12wt for throwing poppers to bull reds and jacks. It is a line that my customers can pick up and recast quickly on these fast moving targets. Our beachfront and jetty tarpon typically respond better to a subsurface baitfish fly. The Sonar Titan Tropical Clear Tip is my go-to line for tarpon. And for sight casting to redfish on the grass flats and marsh lakes it is hard to beat the new Amplitude Smooth Redfish lines in both warm and cold water versions. Casts are typically short and need to be made quickly. The short front taper leads to a lot more confident casts.
- Where would you most like to fish? – Somewhere in the South Pacific for GT’s on the flats.
- Two Truths and a Lie. I have taken a confession from a serial killer. I ride horses in my off time. I built my house on my own.
