I grew up in north Georgia hunting and fishing places like the Cohutta Wilderness for trout and redye bass. A driver’s license allowed my small circle on the map to expand larger and larger until I found myself in western Montana. Ultimately I was drawn back to my home range to build a guiding career in the southeast focusing on landlocked stripers, bass and trout I grew to love as a kid. My passion for fishing and guiding has afforded me opportunities to fish amazing places. Some of my favorite places are Baja, Patagonia and the Bahamas.
- Home water? Being from north Georgia, native bass species and migratory stripers are a passion and cornerstone of my guiding career, I divide my time almost evenly guiding tailwater trout, stripers, and bass from Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia throughout the year.
- What 2-3 lines do you use the most and why?
Sonar Titan Tropical Clear Tip – My go to line for southern summertime river striper fishing. It loads a rod well and turns over a large fly with ease.Sonar 3D Sink Int/ Sink 3/ Sink 5 – Very versatile line for a variety of situations ranging from striper fishing lakes to hitting riverbanks with streamers.Amplitude Anadro – My go to line for big river trout fishing. It turns over big hopper droppers/indicator rigs and mends like a dream. I have found all the Amplitude series of lines to be incredibly durable as well.
- Where would you most like to fish? All the places where Golden Dorado like to exist, Labrador is up there on my list too.
- Two Truths and a Lie. I’ve been known to rescue an animal or two along the banks of a river. I was once a celloist. I got into this business for the money.
