AMPLITUDE SMOOTH TITAN LONG
TWO SIZE HEAVY LINE
The Amplitude Smooth series of lines are, simply put, the highest-performance smooth fly lines in the world. With up to five times less drag and eight times the durability of traditional lines, this will change the way you look at fly line performance.
You’ve got articulated streamers hanging from the lampshade on your desk. You think in terms of black, white, or olive. The term conehead doesn’t refer to an old comedy sketch. We totally get it. And that’s why we designed the Amplitude Smooth Titan Long. Similar in design to our Titan taper, but with an extended rear taper for better mending ability and more line control, it’s quite possibly the best warmwater fly line ever constructed. If you have an all-encompassing need to throw big flies for big fish, then look no further. This fly line is made for you.
- Features the revolutionary AST Plus slickness additive for superior shooting ability and increased durability
- Designed for targeting bass; perfect for pike, carp, and throwing streamers at trout
- Powerful head loads quickly and delivers large flies to distant targets
- Built two sizes heavy for turning over big rigs; use designated line weight for your rod
- Extended rear taper for line control and mending ability
- Ideal line for boat or wade fishing
- For use in moderate and cold climates
- Braided multifilament core
- SA AMP SMTH TTN LNG WF X F – (X = line weight)

This is my “go to” line for bass, pike and musky because this taper can handle those large bulky flies even on those blustery days that challenge any fly caster. I use it mostly on a high end fast action 9 wt fly stick.

Handles big flies well. I tried this on my 8 weight Allen Volant, a medium fast rod and it overloaded it a bit and fell apart over 30 feet. My Mastery Infintiy Smooth cast way better on that rod, even with big flies. The 8 weight is 280 grains and I ended up using it on my 9 weight TFO Mangrove and it casts great on that rod. This line is even over sized for a 9 weight, but that is the intent. It would probably be the ticket on a faster rod in the size it is labeled for. I was casting a size 2 Dolly-Llama with a sizable conehead on the front and a 5-foot leader tapering to 16 lbs. to test. If I was shopping again for an 8 weight pike fly line, I would buy a size down or go with the MPX, but it is now my new rocket launcher on the 9.

I use an #6 on a #8 Asquith as the Asquith sulks when overlined. It’s a great line, it’s by no means the most delicate and it’s not supposed to be but if you need to cast almost any fly in almost any conditions then this fits the bill.
