Pro Shop | Jeff Liskay | Great Lakes Fly Fishing
SA Advisor Jeff Liskay, is based on the south shore of Lake Erie in Avon Lake, Ohio. He is well-known and respected across the Great Lakes region and beyond as an instructor and guide. Liskay was a part of the earliest group of anglers to learn and popularize the use of two-hand rods and swung flies for the migratory rainbows of the Great Lakes. His fishing travels and two-hand instructional programs have taken him to numerous locations around the Great Lakes and into the Pacific Northwest, BC, and Alaska.
Closer to home, Liskay owns and operates Great Lakes Fly Fishing, LLC, and offers a full range of guiding and instructional services focused on Lake Erie’s south shoreline and tributaries and Lake St. Clair. His goal is to present the high-quality, diverse angling opportunities that exist across the region to the fly-fishing community. Liskay’s personal fly-fishing journey started nearly 50 years ago on the banks of the AuSable River outside of Grayling, MI.
Liskay’s favorite Great Lakes fishing experiences include sight-fishing the flats of Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair for a variety of species, walk-and-wade on a select group of Great Lakes tributaries swinging flies (skating flies for Atlantic’s on the St. Mary’s River is at the top of the list!), and stripping streamers for staging salmon and steelhead in harbors and at river mouths. His go-to lines are the Skagit Float and Intermediate with tips, Titan Floating and Intermediate, and Sink 25 in various densities to cover the water column. Liskay is also a Patagonia Fly Fishing Ambassador and Scott Fly Rod Pro.
